Inaugurated in 1990 with three branches, the BC Hydro Power Pioneers Association carries on a tradition going back over sixty years to the days of B.C. Electric and B.C. Power Commission. We have 15 regional branches throughout B.C., representing over 5,000 retirees and their spouses.

Being a Power Pioneer gives you opportunities to stay connected and involved. Many members enjoy being active in events and projects with BC Hydro and our communities. Power Pioneers keep in touch with each other through monthly meetings, social and community events, volunteer activities, our website and the biennial Jamboree.

Our motto is: Supporting our communities and each other. All Regional Branches become involved in fundraising and other activities to support both local and provincial charities. Power Pioneers look for appropriate partners for programs that will be of benefit for our communities. Our partners include BC Hydro, B.C. Children’s Hospital and other local hospitals and schools.

Our members, being an active bunch, are often busy with travels, family and hobbies. So we understand if you have little or no time to participate or volunteer. You’ll find the Power Pioneers very flexible and glad to see you whenever it fits your schedule. You can be as involved as much or as little as you like, and you’ll still get value from your membership.
